His Wonderful Life-giving Smile
The last time I saw you, Keith, was in Westover. You were coming into the Drug Fair as I was walking out. You had just gotten back from the Dominican Republic and your were in uniform. Man, I have not seen anyone look that sharp since.
We talked. You had your natural million-dollar smile and your eyes shined. I hadn't seen you in a while and you told me you just got back from the DR. I asked about your ribbons and you kind of shyly explained. Then I asked about your Green Beret, I knew what it was but I asked. I was very impressed by you. Who wouldn't be?
Next time I heard of you, a friend told me you were Killed in Nam. The wake at you home was incredibly crowded. Just a few months later, I heard of how selfless and brave you had been.
Keith, I am honored to have known you. I think of you very, very, very often. The love your Mom, and sisters have expressed and exhibited speak volumes about you. Their love for you is truly exceptional. But then, you make it easy for them. That love and dedication eclipses even the high honors your country has bestowed upon you. Still, I think you deserve more.
Your fine qualities are recognized and continue to be remembered the most by those who knew you best, your family.
I Salute you and I am indeed honored to have been able to stand in your shadow, albeit far too briefly.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Keith Allen Campbell, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

"Combat Medic - Spirit of Courage"
Not a day goes by that you are not Honored and Remembered. All Combat Medics walk through the KEITH A CAMPBELL MEMORIAL LIBRARY in historic Ft. Sam Houston, ‘Home of Military Medicine’.
Your coin is available for purchase at the Ft. Sam Medic Museum with the museum receiving a portion of the profits.
You gave your life to save the life of others and the efforts to have your DSC upgraded continue. There is support from three Four Star Generals, including the late General Westmoreland, Senator Joseph Biden (now Vice President Biden), Senator Thomas Carper, the late Senator William Roth and former Congressman Mike Castle; in addition, nine eyewitness statements! We pray it happens in Mom’s lifetime!
