Fishing in plantation

I lived 3 houses down on E. Tropical way in plantation. I was a lot younger but he would let me tag along with him when he went fishing in the canal behind our houses. He was friends with my sister kris who was closer to his age. He was a great guy who a lot of kids in our neighborhood respected. Ill never forget the day he was killed. I still think of him when i pass by his old house . Gone but not forgotten.

A Brave Soldier

I didn't know Jim very well, but I was with him for the most part of his last hours on earth. I am an ex USAF Pararescueman. He was assigned to my rescue helicopter at Ubon Royal Thai AFB for a 3 day duty on alert. We were "scrambled" to DaNang AFB and flew there during the night. He had a very strong premonition that he was going to be killed. He voiced it many times. The next day we made an attempt to rescue Bat 21, they sent 4 choppers, our chopper was #3, but Jim had been reassigned to #1 because he was the only photographer available. Again he was so sure he was going to die. But he went anyway. A brave young man.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear SGT James Harold Alley, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. Those who served, such as Mr. Fred Bennykofer, remember you with respect for the American Hero that you are. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say 'thank you'; for America, for those who love you, for those who served with you, and for the Sgt's son.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter (son of Sgt. Ardon William Carter, 101st Airborne, died February 4, 1966, South Vietnam)
