honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Ground Casualty

SP4 Philip W. Baughn, SP4 Joseph V. Camerlengo, and SP4 Dennis G. Hall were infantrymen serving with D Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. On October 20, 1969, SP4 Camerlengo was the driver of a M274 Mule, a small platform utility vehicle, with Baughn and Hall as passengers. While traveling on a road near the Song Bo River railroad bridge in Thua Thien Province, RVN, the vehicle hit a mine. Baughn and Hall were killed in the blast. Camerlengo was transported to a military facility where he expired. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

From a friend of your Son

Thank you for your sacrifice, you would be very proud of your son, Joe. I am very proud to call him one of my best friends, like a brother really. And your wife Patricia, is like another mother to me whom I affectionally call "Aunt Pat". Thank you again and may you rest in peace, AIRBORNE!
