honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your sister Jeanne is poignant. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us....

A letter from your sister.

Gerald, today I woke up with you on my mind. Remembering your handsome face and your calming voice. Also, the dream I had, the phone ringing and that awful news. You had died in Viet Nam. I had prayed every day for your safe return. I was devastated. There's a saying that "time heals all wounds", but my heart is still broken and aches for you, the kindest brother a person could ever ask to have. We had sang together and prayed together. You loved God, family and yes your Gibson guitar. You were and are still missed by many. I still feel your presence around me, especially during the rough times. During family get togethers, your name is always mentioned. God blessed me with a son, Eric, who looks so much like you and has your tender heart. He also served in the military. You would have been proud of him. What now: I will wait until we meet again on the other side. RIP, my dear brother.

Always In My Heart

Dear Uncle Gerald,
I love you and will never forget the fun we had together. We were so happy when you came to visit. You had a heart of gold and always smiling. We had so much fun when you picked me up in the Mustang and we would visit family and friends. I miss you dearly and will give you the biggest hug ever when I see you again.
I'm so blessed to have such a loving and caring uncle.
Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice for our country. You're my hero and forever in my heart.
Your niece,
Sue
