I was there

Bob, I remember when you came to Recon and you as a newby was a bit nervous like all of us. I remember when I took the time to talk with you and told you you are among comrades. I remember when you and Gary Gear led the charge on May 20th. I remember when you lay gasping for breath and probably knew you were dying. I remember your comrades working to save your life and encouraging and praying for you to hang on. Unfortunately the fog on Hill 882 was so thick the medevac could not get you out could not find us. I remember you passing surrounded by us. I was the guy that remembered your name in the fog of war. Now in late life I look forward to seeing you again someday. Jim Brinker Recon 2/502 1970.

A remembrance from an ex-classmate

I remember you, Bobby...you sat across from me in Mr. Levy’s Social Studies class at Division. I didn’t know you well...but you struck me as the happy-go-lucky type. Rest well. (signed) Ken Mednick.
