THANKS

Dear Spec 4 Richard Cable,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Today is my Mom's birthday, say hi to her, her name is Rose. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear SP4 Richard Allen Cable, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

In Memory of a brother who fell in action and shed his blood for our freedom.

Dick Cable and I were friends long before either of us ended up in S. Vietnam. He wrote to me when he was in Basic and I was in Nha Trang, S. Vietnam. I was in S Vietnam six months before he arrived and he was killed in action while I was on leave after my return June 1, 1967. 2 Weeks after my return A Lieutenant arrived at his mother's place in Shelby, Indiana and when I saw the officer I knew what had happened. A friend of ours got a divorce in order to join up and go to Vietnam to settle the score for our friend. Kane E.(Butch) Benson joined the Airborne Rangers hoping to even the score. (May 22, 2000)
