Thank you PFC George Cabano for your service and sacrifice
I lost my husband Scott last year due to Agent Orange ... He left me a priceless gift - his letters to home which I read every Sunday.... Today I read one letter dated October 4, 1968 which Scott mentioned one of his buddies, George Cabano from Boot Camp was killed. Scott had mention George to me at times and we were able to go to the Wall and find George's name. George left an indelible mark in Scott's life. So with that being said thank you George for being a special comrade to my special Marine!!!. May you both meet once again and may you both receive God's Love and Grace for eternity. God Bless Our Veterans!

I served with George in Vietnam
George was in my rocket squad in Vietnam. We were both in Golf Co., 2nd Bn, 26th Marine Regiment. I remember George well and the night it happened.
George was the only guy in our squad from California. The rest of us were from the east coast or Midwest. He took a lot of kidding about being a west coast Marine. I remember his goofy smile the most. He was a really nice guy. I found a couple pictures of him from August 1968 and will try to post them as part of the Remembrance.

A Lasting Impression
George was a football and track standout at Oceana H.S. (Pacifica). The only time I met him was when he happened upon a group of us kids playing ball and now struggling to retrieve the only baseball we had, which had fallen into a street rain gutter and was beyond our reach. He helped us out without hesitating. His act of kindness might seem trivial to most but it made a lasting impression on me. I suspect it was this trait of helping others that motivated him to join the Corps. RIP, George!
