Remembering an old classmate & friend
We seem to always get in trouble in our 9th grade math class and Gary Don and a few others. We were unofficial boyfriend/girlfriend in Jr. High. I've still got some of the little trinkets you gave me back then. We got reacquainted that last summer. I'd always had a crush on you. I remember the day my grandmother called me and told me you'd died there. There are no words to explain those feelings. You've never been forgotten. I've not been back to Amarillo since...I'll see you on the flip side, God willing.
I wish these kids today felt a need to protect our country as you and I and all our friends did.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear FN Micheal Allen Burns, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
