Ground Casualty

LCPL William R. Burnett, PFC Donald J. Callison, PFC Antonio Hernandez-Soto, and PFC John L. Strickland served with L Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On January 11, 1967, they comprised a four-man daytime observation post on Hill 22, two miles southeast of the Tuy Loan Bridge in Quang Nam Province, RVN. At approximately 2:00 PM, their position was attacked by an estimated squad or larger size enemy force. The four Marines were killed in the engagement and the enemy made off with their individual weapons and a PRC-25 radio. A reaction force from L Company pursued the attackers but contact could not be regained. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
