Memorial Day 2024
Well, Mike, twenty years have passed since my last post, I believe. You are definitely not forgotten. There's an organization called the Wounded Warrior Project, and their motto is "The greatest casualty is being forgotten". Remembering you and your ultimate sacrifice, Marine. You will always be remembered, along with the others we knew who gave all. Semper Fi.

Never Forgotten
Dearest Mike,
I was talking to you cousin Una yesterday. She gave me inspiration to reach out.
I am leaving this letter as a remembrance that I have carried with me for over half a century now. Loved the long discussions we had about animals, biology, music and things that were of interest to us way back then. I always looked forward to you coming over to the house for a visit. I knee I would marry you some day, granted this was coming from a kid at the time. I was 11 you were 23...lol. My first crush. You were a gentle and kind soul. Fond memories of your talks about your pet gator. You would love all the critters I have had over the years. I still have quite a few, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, goats, fish, turtles, horney toads and a snake. Somethings never change! I remember the morning exactly when we were informed of your death, I was devastated. Know that I have carried fond memories of you throughout the years, you were never forgotten by me. I finally got the nerve to say these things. I have missed you. I do hope that if there is a place afterwards, hopefully I am worthy enough to go so that I may see you again. I thank you for all of the memories I will carry to the end. Words cannot express the thanks for your courage and the untimely sacrifice of you and all the other men and women who have served the military. With love always,
Dorie
