Thanks
Dear Cpl Gene Burkell,
I really hope your photo is put here because this wall of faces needs yours. Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Medical NCO. Thanks for the lives you saved. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Gene Michael Burkell, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

My Brother...I only knew you for a little while.
I think about my brother Gene Michael a lot on every patriotic holiday. You were raised in Michigan by Dad and I in Florida by my Mom. But we got together for a few weeks before you served in 'Nam. I loved you and miss you! You died at young age of 19 a hero. You were proud to serve your country! My two boys are saddened that they didn't get to know you as am I. Many times I wish I could just talk to some of his buddies that served with him! Maybe they could share good memories of him with my family. Since we were raised so far apart we didn't get to build memories as most brothers and sisters do...Some gave all...God bless all the soldiers that have served The USA through the years! I thank you for your service!

step brother
Gene, we were young together. You had a tough life and went off to a war in a far away land. You will never grow old. But as I do, I continue to think of you and honor the life you gave up doing the duty that was asked of you. Someone still thinks of you and cries. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.
