SP4 Terry P. Burk was a military policeman serving with the 520th Personnel Service Company, Army Support Command Saigon, 1st Logistical Command, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. The 520th Personnel Service Company was intermixed with personnel positions from the 537th Personnel Service Company, the two operating as one unit at Bien Hoa Army Base in Bien Hoa Province, RVN. At approximately 1:50 AM on July 12, 1970, Burk was in his billets at Bien Hoa when he died of a gunshot wound to his right temple from his assigned .45 caliber pistol. The Army conducted an investigation and declared the incident an “accidental shooting,” asserting Burk was clearing the weapon when it discharged a round. An Army volunteer, he was 23 years old.
