ALLEN
I peruse the virtual wall everyday and I look at all the young men who never made it to old age like I did. Every time I come to Hervey's picture, I am drawn into it, it must be a recognition of kinship or something (I am an Allen), my father's people come from Scottsville, VA. I got to Vietnam 7 months after Hervey fell but by the grace of God I survived all of 1968, as wars go it was nasty. God Bless the Allen family, yours and mine, I know I'll see Hervey on the other side and when we're both young again.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Hervey Harris Allen, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Hervey-The Fifth Child
Hervey is my brother, I am so touched to see this, I am humbled. My brother is orginally from North Carolina but went to Richmond Va. to visit my oldest brother and joined the army. Therefore, he is listed as being from Va. He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters, only one brother is deceased. Both parents are still living. They are 89 and 85. Hervey's dad is continuing his planting today. We think of Hervey very often.
