City of Neptune Beach honors their fallen heroes!
The City of Neptune Beach (Florida) recently honored 4 of their fallen wartime heroes, including Cpl. Dennis L. Bunting. A street sign which bears his name and rank, branch of service along with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart was placed at the corner of Margaret Street (where he lived) and Third Street in Neptune Beach. The ultimate sacrifice made by Dennis will never be forgotten here in our beaches community. Rest in Peace Hero!

Dear Uncle
Even though I never met you, you were always a presence in my life. Your picture, with your smiling, kind, handsome face was always there when I was growing up. Your story, so tragic, your life cut short when you were so young, not even 20, has always been with me. You are so loved, even now dear uncle. You were my inspiration to join the Army and I believe, in some way, you inspired my son to join the Air Force. He grew up knowing you, just as I did. Proud to have a hero in the family. My mom said that you were always very kind and loving and that you had a gentle nature. The life you lived before you died in Vietnam was just as honorable as your death. We will never forget you or your sacrifice Uncle Dennis. Your kindness will live on through us, your loving family, and we will always share your memory with our children.

Uncle I never knew
ever since I can remember, I’ve seen your pictures everywhere. Seen the picture of my grandma holding your Purple Heart. Seen The look in her eyes when she would talk about you. Talk about your sweet yet protective nature. Now I’m 22 , in the Air Force, and have the same look in my eyes when I show my fellow Airman what a true warrior looks like, you were a man who stood his ground, a sheepdog and for that you are more then an uncle I never met. You are my brother. Both by the blood we share and the values we keep. Your sacrifice will never be taken for granted. May you rest in paradise Corporal Bunting. You will never be forgotten.
