Uncle Ronnie - I never got to meet you because you were taken from this world far too young. You were so loved and have not been forgotten. Today my oldest son is preparing flags at his school to honor veterans and he will be honoring you. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice you made for all of us. Some day I will meet you in heaven, but for now, I trust you are with your dad and mom (Grampy & Grammy as we called them) and your sister (my Auntie) Cheryl.

Ron Bumpus lived on my floor at Chadbourne House at UMass-Amherst in 1963. He was a good guy, a gentle giant.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrances from your friend Charlotte are especially poignant. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us...

I'm respectfully offering my meager words to you Sgt. Ronald L. Bumpus out of true honor & regard for your complete sacrifice. I extend sympathies & condolences to those you left behind & I'm sorry you perished in that far away place for us. But I believe heaven opened immediately for you & other heroes & I pray you are resting in peace sir in the hallowed halls you so richly deserve for sacrificing your life for others. May God bless & keep you all eternity. Travel well on your path soldier, I hope to see you down the road & shake your hand. Godspeed
