Served Together

I was CAP leader of 1-1-2 at the time of this action. Unfortunately, I was in TamKy for a meeting when this occurred. As adjoining CAPs, Frank and I worked closely coordinating various activities. He talked frequently of his excitement of meeting his daughter for the first time. The photo was taken Jan 7, 1970 after an action at 1-1-3s location.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear CPL Francis Monroe Allen Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for the ultimate sacrifice that you made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. And please know that men and women like you have stepped forward to defend our country yet again, showing the same love for country and their fellow Americans that you did- you would be proud.

With respect, and the best salute that a civilian can muster for you.

Curt Carter

I Remember

I served with CAP 112 and heard the last words spoken by Cpl. Allen that day. It was my CAP unit that came in support of CAP 113 but was unable to save the life of cpl. Allen and pfc Chester Carrico. They were brave Marines who stood their ground against overwhelming NVA forces.
