A memory

I remember the family gathering at your parents home in Cahokia when your passing was released. I was there when your items were return to your family. It is something a 13 year old girl never forgets. As an adult I was able to view your name on the Vietnam wall. It was stirring. I have your KIA bracelet and you will never be forgotten. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for your service. God Bless You.

Fort Leonard Wood basic training.

Carl and I were in basic training company C-1-2 first platoon from October 1965 through December 1965. I never saw Carl again after basic. I deployed to Vietnam as a cook in March 1966 and when I processed out in March 1967 at Cam Rahn I ran into one of the other guys from basic who knew that Carl had been killed but didn't know any details. I only now read about it.

My childhood friend

Carl, and I were childhood friends in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I taught him how to play chess, and he never won a single game out of the hundreds we played. He never stopped trying. You were a wonderful friend.
