Dear Roger,
Your memory has not faded after all these years I still recall sitting next to you in Ms. Betty Carville's 8th period Geometry class. Somehow, I wasn't at all surprised you ended up in Vietnam, but saddened to hear when you passed. So I leave you this poem dedicated in your honor:
:"Scatter the fragrant flowers, washed in our people's tears, over the grave where heroes, sleep through the passing years,
Tenderly place the flowers, over each soldiers head, flowers of white and crimson, over our Vietnam dead,
Who for our people's country, fearlessly fought and died, flowers of white and crimson, tokens of love and pride,
Love for his grand devotion, pride in his knightly deeds, as through a past of glory, reverent memory leads,
and to his silent legions, walk not subdued and bowed, but with the souls of freemen, standing erect and proud,
Scatter the snowy flowers, scatter the flowers red, where till the final trumpet, slumber our American dead!"
RIP Roger-you are NOT forgotten!!!

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Roger Allan Buchanan, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter
