Thank you Marine/ Friend

Gene I have a picture of you when you played for my Dad and we were on the same team the Bluejays, in 1960. That summer we won the Pee Wee Championship in baseball. That has been so long ago. It was really a pleasure knowing you as we grew up together and graduated from THS, way back in 1969. I served in Vietnam from October 1970 to October 1971. I just want to thank you for your service in Vietnam. Each Memorial Day, I read your name and the 9 others from Terrell who served in Vietnam and lost their lives so many years ago. This is done under the flag I fly so proudly in my front yard, while lowered to half-staff. I just want to let you know you will never be forgotten, and its men like you that has helped protect our freedom. Thank you, sir!

Friend, Lost but not forgotten....

I was stationed with Gene at Camp Pendleton 2nd Batt 2nd MarDiv.
I remember him well, and think of him often, ya 1970 I know but hey "Once a Marine always a Marine" he was a funny guy we had some good times before he shipped out.
One of the good ones, a HERO in my book.
Still miss you buddy.
