Boot Camp Platoon 288, Parris Island, June 1967

SSGT Murphy told us that from our platoon of 82 Marines that at least 8 (10%) would die in combat. He was wrong. We only lost 6 but unfortunately you were one of those who didn't make it. I remember you well from boot camp. You were a really nice guy and I think that you were secretly enjoying boot camp as much as I was. Scared as hell but enjoying the fact that we were meeting the challenge. I think of you and the other five often and say a little pray for you and your families. I hope to get to your gravesite next spring. Semper Fi my friend.
