THE WALL OF FACES

Met Ernest in Cu Chi base camp. Of all places it was a four hole outhouse. We had another name for it of course. LOL He told me he had gotten' a Dear John letter from a girl friend l believe. He was upset about it. I told I was sorry but there our a lot of fish in the sea. When you get home with your uniform on the girls will be coming around. He came over to the hooch I shared with a buddy and one night we listened to Some Jackson Five music. I'll Be There was one song. I liked him right off. I never knew any black men till the Army. All of a sudden I did not see him around anymore. Later found out he passed. I hated hearing this. Sorry for your to any family still around. Doug from Illinois.
