Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT Robert Brown, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

El Cajon Valley High School Salutes You

This remembrance is to honor the brave sacrifice of Sergeant Robert Brown from Plaquemine, Louisiana, who gave his life in the Vietnam War to ensure that the freedom of the United States would not be threatened. Sgt. Brown served in the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines Division, and had fought in Vietnam for less than a month before meeting his untimely and heroic death. He is survived by his wife Eleanor and his three children: Brigit, Karen, and Robert Jr., whose last known residence was in Oceanside, California. It is known that he served in Hawaii as a Marine rifle instructor, and in Okinawa, Japan, prior to his service in Vietnam. Although we were not able to find a photograph of him to “put a face” with his name and fully pay tribute to him, we hope that the bit of information we were able to find helps others who would like to complete this tribute.
