I saw our name

I don’t know you, but you are ten years older than me. Like you I’m from New York and I served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Like you I’ve been in combat and I want to thank you for your service and sacrifice. I seen your name on the wall and I cried, for we share the same name. I believe in my heart everyone has an angel watching over them and you were mine. You watched over me and brought me home from war more than once. Thank you, Airborne my Brother.

do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

As long as you are remembered you will never truly die.
