Final Mission of SFC Edward W. Brown Jr.
SFC Edward W. Brown Jr. was an Airborne-qualified infantryman serving with C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division. On May 1, 1967, SFC Brown was on a search and destroy mission in Hau Nghia Province, RVN, approximately three miles southwest of Cu Chi village. Brown was a passenger on a tank which was attempting to clear a path through the jungle when a tree fell and struck him. Brown was fatally injured after being hit on the right side of the head.
