Dear PFC Brown,
Thank you for your service as a Mortarman. It is another summer, as time continues to pass since Vietnam. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I knew Byron "Charlie" Brown. We served together in the 81 Mortar Platoon, 2nd BN., 55th Marines at An Hoa and then Phu Bai. I was a Forward Observer, and Charlie was an FO Trainee. We became good buddies in the two months I knew him. He started his FO Training with me then went to one of our other FO's, Ron DeFore, to finish his training. Ron and I were best buddies. His death was a tragic loss for all of us that loved him.
