Marine Corps Bootcamp
I was drafted into the Marines with Danny at Fort Wayne induction center on 18January1966.
We both were trained at San Diego boot camp and Camp Pendleton.
Danny was a quiet and earnest Marine even as a draftee.
His died in the Hill Fights above Khe San engaging the NVA regulars before the siege. Savage fighting.
His remains were identified 7 years after his death. He was a front page Detroit newspaper story when his mother was visited just before Mother’s Day 1974 by Marines informing her of his death. She was angry and said he was a good boy drafted and died.

Thank You
Dear Lcpl Brotz,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. It is another summer, as time continues to pass since Vietnam. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
