One Fine Sergeant of Marines

I met Sgt ZUG when we were together at Camp Pendleton for training for three weeks just prior to flying to Vietnam. I was the unit commander and he was the acting 1st Sgt. He was an absolutely top notch Marine who provided outstanding leadership to our young Marines during training. I was very distressed to hear, soon after it happened, that he had been killed.

I would be very happy to hear from any of his family and friends.

DELTA 1/4 Marine

Harold, Just recently found a couple guys that were in Vietnam with you. Mike Middleton and Howell Wallace. Sadly enough , both were wondering what happened to you. Unfortunately, I was the one to find you. Thirty Five years today, you are still remembered! If your daughter that you have never met gets in contact with me, the guys would love to tell her just how great of a dad she had.

Thank You Sergeant

As a fellow Buckeye, I say "THANK YOU"

As a Veteran, I say "JOB WELL DONE, MARINE"

As an American, "YOUR DEATH WAS NOT IN VAIN"

And as a Believer, "YOUR SPIRIT IS ALIVE--AND STRONG"

Although we never met personally, I want to thank you Sergeant Zug, for your courageous and valiant service, faithful contribution, and most holy sacrifice, given to this great country of ours!

REST IN ETERNAL PEACE MY MARINE FRIEND

Drill Instructor

Sgt. Zug was one of my Drill Instructors at San Diego, CA. My remembrances of him are those typical of a new recruit. He was stern, tough and not a particularly friendly guy, but that went along with the job he had. I repected him and I give him credit for training me well enough that I made it through the storm of bombs & bullets and came home without a scratch. I salute you, Sgt. Zug.
