Our Platoon Leader

Gus ( For Augustus) Alexander was out Platoon Leader in Bravo Company, 1/27th Wolfhounds, 25th Infantry Division. Gus died on April 12, 1969. We wrote to his then wife about how sorry we were and what a great leader Gus was to his platoon. I moved to Austin Texas in 2009. I was on the executive committee to build a monument to honor Vietnam Veterans on the grounds of the State Capitol in Austin. We also created a dog tag exhibit to honor the 3417 Texans who died in Vietnam. We read all of those names at the LBJ Library. I was honored to have read Gus's name and honor him. I would be proud to meet any of Gus's family to honor them as well. We are having a reunion of the guys I served with in Company B in Austin this September 29th - Oct 2. We will have a table setting in place to honor Gus. Fred Wong who was out company commander at the time, Now retired Brigadier General Wong will be in attendance also. Gus was an honorable man who will never be forgotten by the men he served with. [email protected]
