Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Andrew Winter Youngkin Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Gone Too Soon
In loving memory of our fellow classmate (1964)

Dear Andy,
I visited the wall to pay tribute to you and your service to our country. You gave your life and I am in humble awe of your name engraved on the wall. I feel a special kinship as we were classmates, both born on Saturday, two weeks apart. I was two weeks older than you, but those weeks have turned into decades. Andy, you are forever young in our hearts and minds, a brief life frozen in time. Gone too soon!

Andy, A True Friend
Andy and I went into the Marine Corps together on the buddy program and enlisted prior to finishing high school in 1964. We went to Parris Island on Sept 13, 1964 and both were home on leave prior to going to Vietnam and arrived in Vietnam in April of 1966.
I remember him often and his sacrifice that he made for his country to serve others and his brothers on the battlefield. I was fortunate and think of the life I was given when his was taken.
Andy, I look forward to the opportunity when we will embrace each other and always be together with our Lord and Savior forever. No more tears and no more pain. You're not forgotten brother.
