Childhood Memories

I remember our mothers car pooling us to school.
I remember Doug and I with another neighborhood friend making a go cart with an old lawn mower engine. We had good times.
I joined the Air Force in 1970. My respect goes to all who served in Viet Nam and to Doug who paid the ultimate price for freedom.
May God rest his soul

Memorial Day, 2024

Doug was a high school classmate and friend. He died in Vietnam as a Marine within a week or so of when I arrived in Danang serving with the Navy as a corpsman, each not knowing the other was in-country. I still miss his smile and mischievous style. RIP.

Thank You

Dear Lcpl Douglas Young, Thank you for your service as a Warehouse Clerk. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Doug was a good man

Doug and I were classmates in high school and entered the service at about the same time he in the Marines and I in the Navy. Neither knew what we were in for after (some might say) struggling in our respective experiences at college. Doug had an enormous amount to offer. I am still deeply saddened to realize that he gave and left it all in Viet Nam.
