The “Friends of Rocky Versace” remember one of the 68 * men whose name is chiseled into stone beneath a Gold Star at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Major Carl Louis Young, U.S. Army, on what would’ve been his 90th birthday – 4 August 2021.

During the COVID panic in spring 2020, the “Friends of Rocky Versace” conducted a "spontaneous, clandestine happening" on Memorial Day (25 May) at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial to remember the 68 Alexandrians whose names are chiseled into stone beneath their individual Gold Star. MAJ Carl Louis Young's name was one of the 68 names read that day. Remembered also today on what would’ve been his 89th birthday – 4 August 2020.
