God bless you!
David was my neighbor , I was so young, he just eight years my senior! Before he left . He took my brother and me out for a ride . I don’t remember much, until this we didn’t really know each other ! He ask is there anything that you really want ? I remember replying a boat , if I only had a boat ! Dave replayed, when I get home I’ll get you a boat ! One day after my fourteenth birthday,Dave lost his life ! Shortly after that I got my first boat ! I have not been without one since ! Thank you David ! I’ll be 66 in July ! Dave would have been 74 ! I wish that I had known him better ! I feel like he is always in the boat with me ! Rest In Peace David!

Remembering An American Hero
Dear 1LT David Earl Yates, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
