Dear Sgt Melvin Yamashita, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman. The 54th anniversary of the start of your tour is soon. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Melvin and I went into country together ended up with 173rd airborne brigade, we were in the same squad bravo Company second platoon, we used to share home packages cookies and such sent from our family, I was on R R when he was killed when I came back I learned of his demise, often talk about him to this day and think of him, rest in peace Mel.

The war may be forgotten but the warrior will always be remembered. All gave Some-Some gave All. Rest in peace Sky Soldier.
