Thank You

Dear Sp7 Naoto Yamashiro, Thank you for your service as an Automatic Data Processing Sys. Repairman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty

SP7 Naoto Yamashiro was an ADPS (Automatic Data Processing Systems) Repairman serving with the 59th Signal Company. On the early morning of August 23, 1967, SP7 Yamashiro was walking to his job at the Army supply depot in the Cholon district of Saigon when he was attacked by Vietnamese terrorists. Yamashiro was shot by a .45 caliber pistol, bullets striking him in the back, chest, and buttocks. The shooting was witnessed by a Vietnamese policeman who said the attackers were riding a motorbike. Yamashiro was taken to the 17th Field Hospital in Saigon where he expired. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and “Viets Kill GI On Cholon Street.” Pacific Stars & Stripes, August 25, 1967]
