My Best Trucker Brother At Arms Vietnam

It was only a few days after your Birthday Jim when you were suddenly taken away from us. The Men of The 572nd Trans Co "Gypsy Bandits' will never ever forget your ultimate sacrifice. I stll remember the smile on your weathered weary face as we drove many times out to Fire Base one and Khe Sanh. I can still taste the red dust from Highway 9. I Can't believe you are gone, but when I was given the task of packing your personal belongings to send home it all hit hard. I have kept in touch with your family for years now and they all just remember you as you were before they lost you. My hand is on the wall for you James. Rest in Peace. I will always remember you by the bracelet I wear!

A Buckeye Trucker's Farewell

I was a young trucker, newly assigned to 592d Trans. Co, Cam Ranh Bay, RVN in April 1970. Scared to death, I was too young, dumb and stupid to realize exactly what was transpiring in this far off land. Now, some 33 years later, while searching this site, that 283 of my compatriots (64B MOS)gave their all. While I'm glad and happy to have made it home, I'm so terribly sorry that you didn't make. Rest easy, we've got your back, and God will take care of you, my friend.

Thank You

As a fellow Buckeye, I say "THANK YOU"

As a Veteran, I say "JOB WELL DONE"

As an American, "YOUR DEATH WAS NOT IN VAIN"

And as a Believer, "YOUR SPIRIT IS ALIVE--AND STRONG"

Again, thank you for your valiant and faithful service, contribution, and most precious sacrifice given to this great country of ours! ETERNAL PEACE MY FRIEND
