Final Mission of U.S. Army helicopter CH-47A tail number 66-00071

The helicopter crashed inverted, exploded, and burned. No direct evidence of enemy fire, but classified by Army as combat strike. Crew members included 1LT Robert E. Wise (KIA), CW2 Orman D. Phillips (KIA), SP4 William R. Janka (KIA), PFC Richard C. McKee Jr. (KIA), and SP6 Dennis W. Smith (KIA). The flight included three passengers: SP6 Clifford E. Sparks (KIA), SP4 Kenneth W. Lampman (KIA), and one unnamed personnel who perished in the crash. [Taken from vhpa.org]
