Dear Lt Robert Wise, Thank you for your service as a Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander - Helicopter Pilot. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Valentine's Day is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

The helicopter crashed inverted, exploded, and burned. No direct evidence of enemy fire, but classified by Army as combat strike. Crew members included 1LT Robert E. Wise (KIA), CW2 Orman D. Phillips (KIA), SP4 William R. Janka (KIA), PFC Richard C. McKee Jr. (KIA), and SP6 Dennis W. Smith (KIA). The flight included three passengers: SP6 Clifford E. Sparks (KIA), SP4 Kenneth W. Lampman (KIA), and one unnamed personnel who perished in the crash. [Taken from vhpa.org]
