Don Brightman, a friend of mine
Don Brightman and I were not close friends, but we were cordial
and said hello every time we saw one another.
Don was well coordinated, physically fit, and was often chosen
to be Captain on many of the SMASH BALL teams we had in GYM class. It seemed like Don was always the Last Man STANDING because of his skills at dodging the incoming balls on the court. Everyone wanted to be on Don's team because he was a winner.
Since his death in 1969, and the "Wall's" construction in the eighties, I have been to Washington D.C. three times. For some reason I am drawn to the Wall, and on each occasion have found Don Brightman's name and touched the surface of the granite.
I think often of Don and how he touched my life.
