We Remember
It has been 56 years since 1st Lt Fred Williams was killed in action in Vietnam. I had served with Fred in C Co, 1st Tank Bn, 1st Marine Division at Cau Ha Firebase, near Da Nang, 4 km south of Marble Mountain. Fred had been a tank Platoon Commander, and then in early May 1968 became company Executive Officer when I rotated to battalion headquarters. It was several weeks later that Fred was killed by sniper fire while supporting 3rd Bn, 27th Marines on Go Noi Island as part of Operation Allen Brook.
On this Memorial Day 2024 we remember your devotion to the Marine Corps, your fellow Marines, and our country. Your honesty, courage, humor, fortitude, and love will be with your family and friends forever.
Semper fidelis.
