Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Patrick John Brems, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

To Our Hero, Patrick Brems

Our freedom is brought to us by the heroes who serve and have served our country with honor, dedication and pride. There is no greater sacrifice than giving one's life for their country. We pay our respects, Pat with immeasurable gratitude. God Bless You.

"When I die, do not sound taps over my grave, but reveille - the morning call, the summons to rise." -- A Soldier

Note: Pat and my late husband Ray were dear friends in high school at River Dell Senior High School, Oradell, NJ.

Pat A-10-4 MP member Ft. Gordon

I was also in A-10-4 and in the same barracks as Pat was. We thought he'd got a good assignment by being assigned to the 716th. I was assigned to the 557th MP Co and was on a ship at the Saigon docks when Pat was killed. His memory is still strong. RIP Pat

From A Very Grateful Granddaughter & Proud Army Wife

Words cannot express how much I thank you (along with SPC Mulvaney & Capt Lee) for your outstanding bravery and courage that day in Saigon. If it weren't for you I may have never known my Grandfather 1SG Rex Hanna for he was one of the injured inside the Victoria Hotel. You probably didn't even know how many lives you saved that day. I just recently found your photo in my Grandparents photo albums he kept an 8x10 picture of you to remember you for the hero you were to him. My family never knew the details of what happened that day at the Victoria Hotel until now for Grandpa would never talk about it. You may be gone, but you'll never be forgotten. You'll always be a hero in our hearts forever....
