Why!
A tank had hit a mine on the top of the hill and our Captain asked for volunteers to go sweep around the tank with our mine detectors and remove any mines. Jerry and Latessa cleared around the side of the tank that had the track off and thought they had cleared all the mines, Jerry stepped into a area that he thought was cleared and stepped on a mine which killed him instantly and critically wounded Latessa which died two days later. Why did this have to happen to such great guys. Rest in Peace " HERO " Rest in Peace, Semper Fi, you will Never Be Forgotten .

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Jerry Lee Weaver, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
