Dear Sgt Michael Waters, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Your name will be read at the wall tomorrow, and the 53rd anniversary of the start of your tour is in 4 days. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Veterans’ Day is in 2 days. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Sergeant Michael Roy Waters, Served with Company C, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, United States Army Vietnam.

Did not know him but I am grateful for his leadership to my son in martial arts classes in Okinawa. He had a strong admirer in my young lad who went on to become a leader in his own career as a US Army Ranger. He was of great credit to his service, his country and to his family.


Glen Keener

Sergeant Michael Roy Waters was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, with Combat Distinguishing Device (V) for his sustained heroism in action. He served as an Infantryman and was assigned to C CO, 1ST BN, 12TH CAVALRY, 1ST CAV DIV.
