Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Sherman Thomas Washington, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

One Brave Marine
We were at the Rockpile when you took the grenage out of its holder. There was no pin and it armed itself. You could not throw it in front because Marines were bathing. You could not throw it behind you because there were Marines there too. You put it in your flac jacket taking your own life to save the lives of your fellow Marines and Corpsmen of 3/9. You are a brave Marine and all should know this.

To Sherman, Humbly
Sherman, thank you. The students of Gridley High School are doing a project to thank all of the soldiers on the Vietnam Wall. I am a Junior at Gridley who is just offering a humble thanks. Your talents, your blessings, and your life are remembered. This humble message is part of the GHS posting project. God bless
