High school buddy

Vinny & I graduated from Bishop McDevitt HS in June 1967. He was a wonderful, funny-loving guy. He, Dom Jacquinto, and I hung out a lot together. He loved bowling & catching a movie at the Highway Theater in Jenkintown. His father was in the military & the family moved around quite a bit. I got the terrible news a year after graduation that he was killed in a firefight. I finally found his name on the Vietnam wall in D.C. years later. Boy, did we have some great times together. I think of him often. He'll always be my hero. Rest in peace, Vinny.--Kevin Fitzgerald

My friend and neighbor

I just left a Memorial Day Remembrance in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. I think of Vinnie a lot, but especially today. Like Eddie Corcoran, both jarheads, Vinnie died shortly after returning to Viet Nam after burying a loved one. With Eddie it was his Mom and with Vinnie it was his sister,Karen. At the service today they honored Michael Crescenz, the only Viet Nam MOH recipient from Philly. How ironic is it that our wonderful friend Vinnie (he grew up 15 minutes from Michael) got the Silver Star in a battle fought in the same part of Viet Nam a month earlier.
Keep an eye out for me Vinnie
One of these days I'll see you again.

Thank You

Dear Cpl Vincent Wargo, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Veterans’ Day is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Still I think of him. Glad to have had him for the leader in 3rd platoon...

I first met Vinnie the end part of July 1968 in Quang Tri in the tent down from the Hq one. My training outfit left Mainside the 23rd then to Norton AFB then Hawaii then overnight inOkinawa, then next day a couple hrs or so to Da Nang then about 3 days later finally to L Co, and just met him as he was coming back from (capturing a prisoner or so). I liked him right off. He reminded me quite a bit of Tim Consadine (Spin & Marty and The Hardy Boys). He was very able and had a good bearing. I liked him. My fire team had 5 in it. One a short timer c. then o, f, a and r that was one of the first hit. I'd just gotten back to Hq but the fire was too heavy to get in (getting over pneumonia. I was from the 4 corners country, more arid & it was monsoon). Felt bad for not being there to help many years. Do know Father All Mighty YAHWEH had much grace and mercy on me. Vinnie especially. I still remember many of them after all these years. I wish them all and all their loved ones & friends GOD's guidance and interventions victorious & blessed all the best. Simper Fi! Mac from 3rd platoon PS- My e-mail is [email protected], but I don't keep up on it well at all. Wishing you all the best!
