Squeaky
5/25/15@1130 I just talked to my dad and...Oh.My.Word...The stories he started telling me today...New ones, that I hadn't heard before! First the HILARIOUS stories then came the heart wrenching stories. They used to hang out, they double dated, "rode around", drag raced and sometimes for pink slips!! The list is a very long one!
When they were drafted, they went into the Army National Guard. They were in basic training together and stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana.
Squeaky was sent to Vietnam. He was a gunner on a helicopter. He served his first tour and he then reenlisted. My parents dropped him off at the bus station on 12/24/1965 and he told my dad he had a bad feeling about it and that he wouldn't be back. Somehow, he knew he wouldn't be coming back.
The day he was killed, my dad was told by the guys in his platoon they had been out all day fighting and picking up wounded. The last time he got off the helicopter, he took off running. He stepped on a land mine, got up and tried to keep going. He stepped on another one. There's really nothing left to say. Squeaky, you are so loved and missed every single day! Your memory is a blessing.

Squeaky...
Squeaky, on behalf of Jerry & Becky Seay (my parents), I want to say that even at 73, my dad thinks of you often. He still crys when he talks about you. I was born in 1967 & I have heard and known of you since I was very little. My parents both miss you terribly! I wish I could have know you. You are dearly loved and missed!
