Dear Cap Robert Walters, Thank you for your service with the 31st Engineer Detachment and for graduating from WEST POINT. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart . Halloween is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it still needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Captain Robert James Walters was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, with Combat Distinguishing Device V, for his exemplary gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Merit for his sustained meritorious service. He served as a Combat Engineer Officer and was assigned to the 31ST ENG DET, HQ CO, 5TH SF GROUP.

During a "clandestine, spontaneous happening" at the CPT Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day 2020, the "Friends of Rocky Versace" remembered Captain Robert James Walters, USMA Class of 1964, U.S. Army, as well as Alexandria's 67 other Vietnam War Fallen Heroes. The “Friends of Rocky Versace” remember one of Rocky’s fellow alumni from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point - a brother Airborne-Ranger - whose name is chiseled into stone beneath a Gold Star at the Captain Rocky Versace Plaza and Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Captain Robert James Walters, USMA Class of 1964, on what would’ve been his 79th birthday - 18 August 2020.
