Friend

I remember him in high school, the year ahead of me. He was always friendly and a regular guy. I was in Vietnam the year before he died. He deserves to be remembered and I remember him like all the buddies we lost.

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER

It's said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for family, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

COUSINS & BROTHERS

my name is david l. "larry" brannon, major, usar ret. paul is my first cousin, 2nd oldest son of my father's twin brother. his mother & father have always been like parents to me, paul like a brother. at the time i went in the army in 1966 i was living with paul & family as a son & a brother. Other than knowing he was also in the army & in vn, i lost track of paul until one particular day in 1970. i was on leave, due to vn in july of '70, with my family & father visiting our grandmother whose house was across a small pasture from paul's parents home. it was a sunday. paul's father came over with the sunday paper for grandma, visited a little while, then went home. minutes later the phone rang. grandma began crying. the army was next door. paul was dead.
paul was a good son & more like a brother to me than a cousin. he was a good ol' country boy from so. alabama made into a soldier. he didn't have to die the way he did. i miss him. god bless & love his family. amen.
