Too good to die so young
We were kids together and lived a few houses apart. I remember him to be a real nice guy from a family who cared. He died just before I left for Viet Nam. I'm sorry Rich.

If anyone who knew Richard sees this message , please e-mail me. would enjoy speaking with you.
Richard,a day doesn't go by that I don't think of you as I put on my bracelet. We served together in Viet Nam and when duty called you responded. I remember clearly that fateful evening in July when word came through you gave your life for all of us. I was asked to identify your body and did so. For years I thought of you, unable to recall your name. Fate dealt me a precious hand when the "Travelling Wall" arrived at Holy Cross College and I was able to put a name to your face. I sit here writing this with tears in my eyes and a sense of pride for having served with you. Your friend and brother-Greg.

I played high school basketball with Rich at Stratford High School in Connecticut, graduating together in 1966. He was a nice kid! I remember hearing of his death in Viet Nam and just not being able to understand Why!
My thoughts and prayers have always been with him.
Sincerely, Bill Penders
