Thank You

Dear Lt Jan Ulmer, Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Qualified Infantry Unit Commander. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Labor Day was yesterday. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it still needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

We served together.

I was your Chief Radio Operator on A-322. My getting us “lost” in Cambodia was an interesting experience. You are an excellent officer Sir, I am proud to have served with you.

A Superb Officer and a Good Friend

Jan was a superb officer and a good friend. I met him in early 1967 at Fort Bragg, NC, when we were both enrolled in the Special Forces Officers Course. He impressed me with his intelligence, good sense, and strong work ethic. He became 2nd in command of the A Detachment I had previously commanded in Vietnam and was deeply respected by all his teammates. His loss still saddens me.
