I was mistaken Bob did not grow up in Milwakee, but Tennessee from info I have found recently..

In 1970 I flew home from Milwaukee to Ironwood MI, it was Christmas time. When we landed in Ironwood I found out I had 2 cousins also on the plane. One was Robert Douglas Trier and the other was another Robert Trier. There fathers were brothers. Both were dressed in their military uniforms. Since Maj Douglas had grown up in Milwaukee I never got the chance to know him except for this one plane ride, in which I didn't know either of the Roberts. Family was there to meet them as well as my family there to meedt me. I got to know the other Bob Trier later in life after I moved back to Ironwood. It would have been nice to have known Maj Robert and his family. I never met any of them either. Thank you cousin Maj for giving the ultimate sacrifice so I can live free.

Dear Major Robert Douglas Trier, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
