I sent you on that mission Robert, and you were our first casualty. The letter I had to write to your wife was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I am weeping as I write this. You gave your all and are still remembered. God speed!

Dear SFC Robert Townsend, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. The 57th anniversary of the start of your tour is in 3 days. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Agent Orange Awareness Month. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it still needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

A search is on to find surviving relatives of a 1954 Royal Oak High School graduate killed in Vietnam before the National Security Agency honors him and places his name on its Memorial Wall in May.

Thank you for giving your all for our country. You have been sadly missed.
